In doing so, they guide you to embrace the many facets of your heart and become an integrated, spirit led-self. It is in our truest, Christ centered self that we can experience what Jesus calls abundant life. Furthermore, it is through our spirit led self that we can operate with authenticity and vulnerability in relationships. Cook and Miller are also refreshingly honest. They do not speak as experts with only book knowledge but as individuals who have seen this work in their own lives. In addition, they partner each therapeutic technique with a biblical framework. Do you have a hard time dealing with conflict in relationships, emotional difficulties, or negative comping mechanisms? If so this book is for you. This book is for me. It has helped me deal with the parts of myself that were hindering me as I strove to walk in wholeness with Christ and others. I loved this book and plan on directing future clients towards this as a therapeutic resource.
How I wish I had access to this book and these ideas 15 years ago when I was in the throes of struggling with life with young children. All I could see about myself were my bad parts--anger, impatience, jealousy. In this book, Cook & Miller encourage us to recognize that those parts are only a "part" of who we are. Rather than hating them, we can thank them for their function in our lives and ask them to step aside so we can ask Jesus to transform the vulnerable piece within us. I love that they blend both psychology and spiritual formation in a practical way.
Cook and Miller do an excellent job using their own personal experiences as well as the stories from their clients to help us all understand how we can live more freely, by confronting and taking care of the different parts of our souls - especially the negative parts. The authors tell us to be gentle with ourselves and that we can turn the things we don't like about ourselves into something positive. Nothing like this has been written before and they do it with great clarity, kindness, and smarts. It's a must-read for anyone who desires integration between the person they want to be and who they actually are. Bravo!!
If I had $1 for every book I've read trying to gain freedom over fear, insecurity, shame, and a solid self esteem, I would likely be rich. But this book is different. Rather than just try to convince you of the fallacy of your thoughts and who you are in Christ, it gives you insight into exactly WHAT is going on inside your soul... and gives you practical and specific tools to deal with the inner turmoil head on and with peace. It's in a league all its own in the "self-help" category. It's powerful, and I believe my life will be changed and finally set free from a continual cycle of responding to painful or negative emotions in a way that makes matters worse and makes me feel even more in bondage to them. I am so thankful for this book, and intend to continuing following as much of what this author writes as I can!

Not Boundaries for Your Soul. Here there is true integration as the narrative flows between the two domains in a seamless fashion. They are not two separate ways of addressing the issue. Their integration creates one, richer, more comprehensive approach, and this benefits the reader tremendously.As a psychologist, I find this book refreshing. Not only has it benefited me, but I look forward to using it with many clients in support of the work they are dong in therapy. This book is probably the most all encompassing in explaining what it means to be emotionally healthy, and how to use the Holy Spirit to do so. It is AMAZING! I was hesitant to order because while I do like psychology books or just practicals to dealing with your emotions, I do believe there’s a spiritual side to it. And they deal with both so beautifully. It is information heavy so would encourage if you’re going after a goal (which I was when I picked up the book) go ahead and set that to the side so you can focus on the things they point out in the book and ACTUALLY integrate them in your life. Don’t speed read, don’t move past chapters, take it one day or even one week at a time because soul work is always hard work. It takes time, and nobody is healed over night, but man I have just enjoyed slowing down and engaging my imagination, the Holy Spirit and my emotions through the material. The only kind of strange thing is they refer to emotions as people, so it is different but i got used to it after a bit. The practicals alone make this book so worth it!! EVERYONE NEEDS THIS BOOK!!
Liked clear definitions, steps & ways to process my feelings. Nothing too complicated. Feelings are complicated enough. And as a christian, needed the biblical support from verses. Looked them up and that helps too.

The book explains to the reader the fascinating world of derivatives and assumes no knowledge of derivatives beforehand. This book is not just an introduction to the subject, it starts by assuming that the reader does not have any background on the subject but it goes quite deeply into all of the instruments. While it is an academic book with a series of questions at the end of each chapter, it is also clearly written by authors with experience in trading derivatives. The chapter on dynamic hedging, and how options can be replicated by trading the underlying instrument is the best explanation on that topic that I have read. The book explains complex topics in plain English that I find really helps students. I would strongly recommend it to someone teaching a University level derivatives class, or to an investor who wishes to learn how derivatives work.
These two instructors, with over two decades of experience in the financial sector, know exactly what they are talking about. Both graduates of a prestigious business school, if you want to know anything about derivatives, they are your experts.

This is a rating based on the copy of the book itself. NOT the actual story itself, which is absolutely amazing and a great classic. That being said;I ordered a used copy of the Mansfield Park Penguin Clothboud Classics, and what I received was a copy published by Modern Library. I don’t plan to return it because I live overseas and it takes forever for items to make it to our FPO address.But it is unfortunate that the book I ordered did not arrive from the publisher advertised. It doesn’t match the rest of my Jane Austen books from Penguin, which is a bit upsetting. I recommend ordering from thrift books or better world books. Hawking Books missed the mark on this one, and I don’t believe I will be placing an order through them again.
Fanny Price is such an interesting character because she feels things just as deeply as others, but she hides her feelings from everyone, especially if she thinks they might not meet with approval. She starts out afraid of everything, taken from the only home she's ever known, poor, dirty & noisy as it was, and placed in an imposing mansion with wealthy relatives she has never met. She finds only one member of the household that is a sincere and comfortable friend, but she works hard to learn, to fit in, and to endure her nasty Aunt Norris' cruelty. She has remarkable self control and steadfastness. When she's pressured to marry someone she doesn't want to marry, she turns out to have a great deal more courage than anyone in the family could have thought possible. It's a pretty long book (I like that because I can read it over and over and not even get close to memorizing it), and I rank is as #3 on my Jane Austen list [P&P and Persuasion are 1 & 2].Movie notes: The most accurate film version is the 1986 BBC production, so if you want to get an idea of the story, that's a good one to watch, even though it's not as polished as newer versions. Depending on how you feel about reading a long book, it might even be helpful to watch the movie first. The later movie versions of it are not good adaptations; the casting in the 1999 one is excellent but they add some things to do with slavery/sex that are just crude and gross. The newer BBC version with Billie Piper is awful; she does not fit the character at all and the way her character is written reflects many traits that are completely opposite to Austen's Fanny Price.
I have reached a different understanding of Jane Austen's work after many readings over the past sixty-five years. With regard to this particular work, I have parted company with it forever. I must admit that I cannot like Fanny Price nor any other character in this book. Why? The author has great talent, even genius. The characters are skillfully drawn, the plot moves forward apace and we readers do get caught up in the suspense of the drama. But at the end I am left with a bad taste in my mouth, metaphorically speaking. Fanny is a narrow-minded moralist whose fondest dream is to marry her first cousin and that is incest no matter what society one inhabits. The cousin is a man of some talents who is afraid to examine his closely held beliefs. The Crawford sister and brother, representing London sophistication, are horrendous and flawed. There are no redeeming major characters in this book. It is a great portrait of the fundamental mediocrity of societal enclosures. It is terrifying as no "horror" story could ever be.
I've heard it said that Jane Austin's novels are only about a bunch of prissy aristocratic debutantes gossiping about men. Myself as more of a rough and tough cowboy hippie than an aristocrat think that Jane is one of the best writers ever and if you follow the above-referred to conversations you will realize that nearly every sentence is developing a character. These characters are classic = the type one will run into in life so you get an invaluable real education about people.However, this particular edition is OVERSIZED = it's NOT a normal paperback but is 8x11" so it doesn't fit on bedstands, desks in daypacks & etc. It is printed in the US on clear white paper but the print is tiny. I returned it :-(
Wow I think Mansfield Park is my favorite of Jane Austen's six novels! I emotionally connected with this story more intensely than with the others. And though a lot of people dislike Fanny Price, I loved her and could empathize with her the most deeply out of all the Austen heroines, partly because I can relate to Fanny the most. :)I liked Edmund a lot too, as he's a wonderful person, but he made me angry sometimes because of how unaware he is.Hmmm one of Jane Austen's acquaintances also alluded to this, but Mansfield Park seems to be technically less sophisticated (in language) than for instance Pride and Prejudice; but emotionally, Mansfield Park grabbed me more. I loved Pride and Prejudice too, but I could personally relate more to the lonely, virtually friendless Fanny Price, than with the confident, witty Elizabeth Bennet.
I doubt I'll ever love any of Jane Austen's novels as much as I love Pride and Prejudice, but I'm nevertheless bemused by why any reader would give this entertaining journey into the past less than a four-star ranking. Perhaps it's because it's viewed as historical fiction. But Jane Austen didn't write historical fiction. She wrote about the times she lived in and has provided us with invaluable insight into the way the English upper crust thought, behaved, and spoke in the Regency era. Entering one of her novels is like entering a time capsule in which nothing has been changed to facilitate our modern point of view. Perhaps Jane Austen is not for those who aren't adventurous time travelers who want a taste of the real thing. As L.P. Hartley so aptly put it, "The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there."

I bought this crossword puzzle book for my grandparents. They are Catholic and love doing crossword puzzles, so I though they would really like this bible-themed book. The paper is good quality, it's a bit heavy/thick, so you can use pens or pencils. I wouldn't recommend any fine tipped markers because they will bleed through the pages and ruin the crossword puzzle on the opposite side. The book has a total of 50 puzzles to solve. Each puzzle has a title that tells you the theme (Ex: First Christmas, Gospel of John, Miracles of Jesus, New Testament Women, etc..) It's a large print book, so it's perfect for those that have difficulty reading small font. I am happy with the purchase and would recommend this to any crossword puzzle lovers that are looking for a Biblical themed book.
Shame on me for not reading the reviews before purchasing this book. I would rate this zero stars if I could. I was expecting all questions in all puzzles to be Bible related. They are not. I was forgiving on the first puzzle but when the first question on the second puzzle read, "Lingerie item" (answer: bra) I was done. Unfortunately I cannot return the book as I have already written in it. Into the recycle bin it goes.
General remarks: These ads for crossword books really should show a sample page/puzzle, so we can tell how large the type is and how clear it is for reading and how convenient for actually working the puzzles. Personally prefer larger than normal puzzles but ALL ON ONE PAGE (clues and puzzle) instead of spread across two pages. Much easier to work them that way. Also, what is with all the cross-references from one clue/answer to another? The business about "See #22 across," etc. is annoying! For seniors with vision challenges, jumping from clue to clue and puzzle, across pages, is dizzying and not fun!I also think the ads should specify HOW MANY puzzles are in each book. Some of the books are definitely overepriced for what you get. Also, the PAPER on which these are printed needs to be of better quality than "newsprint"! (And the INK needs to NOT BE TOXIC OR STINK!! Sorry, but I hate trying to do a puzzle where the ink nauseates or causes sneezing fits!)Specific: This was my first Bible crossword book and I enjoyed it a lot, despite problems listed above. Do wish they would forego the sports and Hollywood references and stick more with Bible and at least with common vocabulary/topics that will stimulate our brain. Remembering characters from TV shows or movies, in my opinion, is a waste of time! At least use characters from literature classics, if you cannot make the entire book refer to BIBLE CLUES & ANSWERS. This book is printed on quality paper with nice, inoffensive ink, which I appreciated; but wish the puzzles and clues were all on same page, in slightly larger than normal print. I found the numbers were hard to read; they were squeezed too close to edge of puzzle and were too small. Overall, I enjoyed this book and will order more by this publisher.
I purchased this for my 80 year old grandmother. She is happy with it so far. The crosswords are a good mix of biblical/scripture knowledge along with secular common sense knowledge.My main concern was that it was KJV as my grandmother's choice. Product was as described. I would purchase from this author again.
Its only ok because its not as Bible based as I would like. Granted, I have done only 4 puzzles in it so far, but each of them had only a few Bible related clues. Thats a disappointment. I was hoping for mostly ALL Bible clues with a few other things tossed in. Hopefully no sports or movie references. But no, there is movie, sports, and non Bible land geography and non bible history. What a bummer!
I bought this as a Secret Sister gift for one of the older members of our church. I was able to look through it once it arrived and I liked the fact that it was large print in the clues and the puzzles. I know this is such a great gift for those who like to keep their minds occupied and exercised with thinking about the things of the Bible.
I am somewhat disappointed in this crosswords book. I don't know what version of the Bible is used in these crosswords. I have several different translations of the Bible and can't find the exact word that the crosswords are calling for.
I bought this book for my 86-year-old mom who is not as active as she once was, but still likes to stay busy. She loved it! The answers in the back helped her when she was "stumped". She's finished it and ready for another. She liked the Bible references.
